Traditional, Mid-Century or Eclectic

Gilded and lacquered chest from Italy circa 1734-1745 with Italian carved and gilded Chinese Chippendale style mirror circa 1940s

Don't you think a black chest with a gold mirror always looks fantastic in an entry?  Or anywhere else for that matter.   I think the combination is beautiful.  I came across two chests and two mirrors on 1st Dibs that I'm crazy about.  I put the traditional chest with the traditional mirror and did the same with the two mid-century items.  Do you prefer one look more than the other?  Which one?
Antique French chest from the 1960s by Jacques Adnet with an antique Mastercraft mirror circa 1970

What about mixing the two?  I think the mid-century chest with the traditional mirror is my favorite.  The eclectic look is just more interesting to me in this case.  What do you think?  And aren't these pieces gorgeous?!
