Road Trip Architecture and Book Recommendation

We left Dallas last Friday to take our daughter to Michigan for a three week camp where she can focus on her favorite extra curricular activity and be with other kids who share her interest.  We spent the night in St. Louis, so we drove around the campus of Washington University on our way out of town the next morning.  Our daughter is going into high school next year, and we need to be educating ourselves about options for college.  She attends a school that graduates around 120 girls every year.  A surprising number of them attend Washington University, so we wanted to see it.

The original campus dates from 1853,  and was located in downtown St. Louis.  Construction began on the existing campus  in 1900 which is located in the Forest Park area.  

The architects of the campus, Cope and Stewardson, described the architecture as Academic Gothic and were inspired by the architecture of Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

There was construction and we could only see part of the campus.  We hope to visit again and be able to see and learn more.  What do you think?

I know I have a random post today, but it's what's on my mind.  Do any of you read parenting books?  Any of you who are parents, of course.  To be honest, I try, but don't have the best track record.  They usually aren't the most engrossing reading material.  I know I should, as I believe that everyone can be a better parent.  The administration of my daughter's school has been urging parents to read this for a couple of years.  They believe it to be one of the most helpful books available for parents and teachers.  I'm almost finished with it, and I completely agree.  I wish I had read it when it was first published in 2006.  Have any of you read this book?  I highly recommend it for everyone parent or not.   Do you have a great book to recommend?  I'll be ready for something purely entertaining after I finish this!
