Timothy Corrigan on Trending Blue at Maison-Objet and Signed Book Offering
I'm beyond thrilled to have Timothy Corrigan here at TPP sharing news about his Maison-Objet experience. In addition, Timothy will be a keynote speaker at the Design Bloggers Conference which will be so very interesting and informative!

From Timothy...
I try to attend Maison-Objet, the big design show that is
held twice a year in Paris just to see what the latest trends are in the world
of furniture, carpets, fabrics and tabletop.
This year the show seemed smaller than it had been in recent years but
most of the companies that I spoke with said that it had been a successful show
with lots of new orders written; a good sign that the economy is lifting all
around the world.
The biggest single trend that I noted was: COLOR! The inundation of grey, tan, beige or what I
like to “Greige” is now well and truly over! Just about every manufacturer
broke out with products in lots of colors.
But through all of that color, one particularly stood out as the color
of show. While this may be the year of
“Radiant Orchid” according to Pantone...
...the color that was evident everywhere at Maison-Objet was BLUE!
Blue was everywhere…pots, furniture, fabric, carpets…you
name it and it was probably in the color Blue.
Here are just a few examples of the Blue wave at Maison-Objet:
Even Flamant, the Belgian company that lead the way into
the world of “Greige” (Restoration Hardware stole their look “hook, line and
sinker"), has converted to the world of
blue…here is a photo of part of their booth…notice the blue walls (they used to
be grey!):
When I asked the various people about this color trend, they
all universally said that they find that people are tired of the stark,
depressing world of greys, beiges, blacks and tans and are looking for a return
to brighter, happier, “prettier” colors. Since this show serves as the
precursor to what you can expect to see in design magazines within the next six
months and in stores within the next year, you can expect to start seeing a lot
more blue!
As I was walking out of the show, I reached to take off my name
badge that everyone wears at the show, and I looked at the cord that holds the
badge, and rather than the shocking pink color that the show has used for the last nine or ten shows, what color did I see it was now? You guessed it…..BLUE!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
You know I'm happy to hear this news. It's no surprise that I adore blue in interior design, and will not be sorry at all to see more color! Below are a just a few of the absolutely LOVELY images from the Timothy Corrigan website gallery. There's so, so much more to see -- go here for quite the visual feast.
Timothy has generously offered a signed copy of his book, An Invitation to Chateau du Grand-Luce: Decorating a Great French Country House, to one fortunate TPP reader. To have an opportunity, please leave a comment on this post, and random.org will determine who will receive this beautiful book.
Thank you so much, Timothy, for being here at TPP. I know my readers will love hearing about Maison-Objet, and be very excited for the opportunity to have a signed copy of your book. We'll all be looking forward to hearing your insights at the Design Bloggers Conference!
