One Room Challenge Week One

First day of ORC!!  I'm really excited to fill you in on my project, and I doubt any of you need a heads up on The One Room Challenge.  On the very off chance that you're not familiar, it's the creation of

Calling it Home's, Linda

. Twenty design bloggers will redesign a space and post about our progress every Wednesday for six weeks.  Following along with everyone's experience is lots of fun and somewhat addictive.  And, if you have a blog and a room you'd like to redo, join in and be part of ORC.  Read about how to do that

here

.

I've participated in several ORCs, and I've always worked on a room in my own house.  This time, however, my lovely, fun,

foolhardy

adventurous friend, Jane, is graciously allowing me to use her entry (photos above and below) for my project. Jane has a gorgeous house less than a minute from mine.  Her family moved into this house seven years ago, and the movers placed things from the previous house wherever they best fit.  She intended to revisit right away and do a bit of updating, but life got in the way.  Fast forward to now, and the entry looks exactly the same.

Which is actually quite nice as you can see.  Jane just wants a little different feel for the space.  I'll tell you more about that next week.  For now, I'll just share that the yellow paint will soon be covered by white.  That alone will make a significant difference.

Here are some entries with super-light or white walls.

White walls always make a room so fresh and clean.  This last photo is from

my most recent ORC

.  My walls went from a pale blue/gray to white, and everyone in my family still loves the new paint color.  I cannot wait to see the difference it creates in Jane's entry. Come back next Wednesday to see more on the direction of this project. I'm so excited about the plan and am dying to see it all come together!

Be sure to go see what projects the other nineteen participants are undertaking:
