Spring 2019 One Room Challenge Week One
How very happy and terrified I am to be back in the One Room Challenge™! Thank you for coming by to see what I’m doing. The 25 second video below really illustrates why I’ve chosen this project.
So, while the house was built in 1969, I’ve only had it for a couple of years. I’ve remodeled part of it already, some of which you can see at the end of my post. The house is a ranch, and the bathroom is a jack and jill. I know that this is a very common renovation, so I’ve got lots of online inspiration, and hopefully my project will give all the many future renovators of this style bathroom some helpful ideas.
No need to go through everything here. You know what’s wrong — it’s just time to update.
Not exactly to scale, but you get the idea. There’s a door at either end taking you to a bedroom — one is my daughter’s, and one is the guest bedroom. My daughter’s off at college most of the time, and when she’s here, she’s quite a sport about not using the bath that’s adjacent to her room. She’ll be thrilled to come home from college at the end of this semester and have a beautiful, new bath to enjoy.
What will happen is the tub, the cabinets and sinks, and the wall between the tub and the toilet will all go. Instead there’ll be a walk-in shower and a vanity with a single sink. New everything. At this point, no one even goes into this bathroom, but that will change very soon. I’m sure my daughter would never think to read this post, so she won’t know that she may have to share a bathroom with her mother in the near future.
I’ll have so much more next week, but for now, here are colors, materials, and finishes you’ll see in this bathroom transformation. My daughter requested pink, and I’m thrilled to oblige.
Below are areas of my house that have been updated. It’s no coincidence that they’re ORC projects. I’m so grateful this event exists for so many reasons, one of them being that it ensures I finish a room. Here’s the project that includes the two photos below.
The next two images were part of this project.
Can’t wait to share more with you next Wednesday. Be sure to click through the links below to see all of the transforming taking place across the internet : ).
